Unanticipated Change
The pandemic has become one of the most memorable moments in our lives. It has impacted various fields, including the education of students, which leads the government to make such solutions for the said issue. The Department of Education then came up with a new way of providing how students can still learn despite being at home. The new way of learning was implemented and it was later applied, which we called modular-distance learning. Amidst the possible challenges of this new set-up, Students still managed to finish two sets of school years. I myself was one of the majority of students who experienced difficulty during this type of educational system.
When the school announced that classes were suspended because of the COVID-19 virus, we were all deeply moved by this sudden suspension. Students like me never really knew what was going on or what the next step to take. We were constantly waiting for announcements. Everyday, we were all waiting to see what the government would do next. Eventually, they announced that students would still need to learn just by being at home. Us students were shocked by the sudden news. Some were relieved, some were confused, some were not happy with the sudden change, and some never really cared. Unfortunately, we were all required to agree to this type of learning. There were Various complaints. Different feedback was received. Some of the students managed to adjust. Some students surrendered. Some quit learning. And some did not even put any importance on this system. Compared to me, I was barely making through it. I had downfalls. I had times where I felt too stupid to even learn something new. I had these scenes that represents how a child can never really learn completely without seeking help. We were all dealing with the difficulty of education. I was forced to present my outputs without genuine efforts. I convinced myself that everything would be handy and that everything would go well, despite the opposite outcomes. I always inspire myself to be productive and to be able to manage my time but I let myself drown with my habits. There were days that I couldn't really function well enough. There were moments when I wasn't satisfied with my grades. There were multiple days that I was complaining about how we students purposely need to accept this system without the certainty of success. There were times that I felt the urge to give up, but with the help of my loved ones, I still managed to cope.
The pandemic remained a lesson, not just for me but for everyone. Each one of us has been totally affected, and we can't deny the fact that this pandemic has caused many things in our lives, including the sudden change in the educational system. All of us, mainly the students, learned to fit in with how education works at home. Despite the sudden lack of motivation sometimes, we still managed to be on track and to not give up easily. Various problems have been present at this time of crisis, and let us be inspired that we were in control and that we were able to get through it all.
