A Reason for Remembrance
As Ilocos Sur National High School celebrates their 121st High School Day at the 25th of March, The entire school community came together to honor their rich history and accomplishments with great enthusiasm and pride. The school, located in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, has been a beacon of education and excellence for over a century and it has produced numerous successful alumni.
The theme of the celebration is “Renewed Commitment in Defying Odds to Transcend Heights of Excellence and Solidarity”, reflecting the school’s commitment to producing well-rounded students who can make a positive impact on the world. The event started with a parade around the school’s vicinity, featuring the school’s marching band and different student organizations. The students proudly held colorful flags as they represented the school.
After the parade,
The students gathered at the school’s gymnasium for the opening program. The
program began with the thanksgiving mass followed by the doxology of the
teachers and also followed by the singing of the national anthem and the school
hymn’s. The school principal, Mrs. Editha C. Bagcal, gave the welcoming
address, and The Schools Division Superintendent, Ms. Gemma Q. Tacuycuy gave
her message, with both of them emphasizing the significance of the event and
the school’s contribution to the community’s education.
After the message, there was an intermission number of the selected Grade 10 students, followed by an inspirational message of the Outstanding Alumna, Dr. Vida Margarette Andal-Bueno. After the talk, There was an awarding of Plaque of Recognition to the Guest Speaker, followed by the the intermission number of the teacher's choir.
After the awarding of outstanding teachers, employees and retirees, The assistant principal, Mr. Rommel R. Rabo, gave his words of gratitude, followed by the closing song entitled “Walang Hanggang Pasasalamat”.
Aside from the alumni recognition, The students also showcased their talents in various performances. The field demonstration which includes calisthenics and festival dances started at 1pm, and was performed successfully with the selected students of different grade levels. The FEC Officers conducted traditional games for teachers and the SSG prepared some booths for students to enjoy.
The celebration ended with the words of gratitude of the Head Teacher VI of MAPEH Department, Mrs. Judith M. Refuerzo, which she thanked everyone for their participation and support. She reiterated the importance of education and how the school aims to continue producing excellent students who will contribute to the community’s growth and development.
